A SERIES OF RAIDS AND ARRESTS STEMMING FROM A MONTHS LONG NARCOTICS INVESTIGATION IS THE REASON SEVERAL PEOPLE ARE IN CUSTODY TODAY. DAYTONA BEACH POLICE SWARMED SEVERAL NEIGHBORHOODS AND APARTMENT COMPLEXES THURSDAY MORNING. SWAT TEAMS AND OFFICERS FIRED FLASHBANGS AND KNOCKED ON DOORS, WARNING THOSE INSIDE TO COME OUT. THIS MORNING WE ARE EXECUTING 11 SEARCH WARRANTS AND HOPING TO PICK UP APPROXIMATELY 32 SUSPECTS. DAYTONA BEACH POLICE CHIEF JAKARI YOUNG SAYS THIS OPERATION TARGETED A DRUG RING OUT OF VOLUSIA COUNTY. THOSE ARRESTED FACE CHARGES RELATED TO THE SALE AND DISTRIBUTION OF FENTANYL, COCAINE AND METHAMPHETAMINE. I THINK IT’S GOING TO SHUT THINGS DOWN FOR A LITTLE WHILE AT LEAST. HOPEFULLY A LONG TIME. BUT WE’RE GOING TO SEE HOW THINGS GO. CHIEF YOUNG TELLS US THE RINGLEADER WAS ARRESTED IN PORT ORANGE THURSDAY MORNING. THEY ALSO SHUT DOWN A TRAP HOUSE WHERE DRUGS WERE STORED. ONE NEIGHBOR SAYS SHE AND HER SON HAD A FEELING SOMETHING WAS GOING ON. YEAH, HE HAD SOME PEOPLE INVITE HIM IN AND HE SAID ONE LOOK AND IT LOOKED LIKE A DRUG DEN, SO HE JUST KIND OF LEFT AND WAS A LITTLE WEIRDED OUT BY THAT. BUT YEAH, WE HAVEN’T EVER SEEN ANY POLICE OVER THERE OR BUT THERE’S BEEN A LOT OF TRAFFIC IN AND OUT OF THAT HOUSE. SEVERAL PEOPLE ARE NOW IN POLICE CUSTODY. 'It looked like a drug den' | Daytona Beach drug ring busted
The months-long investigation led to the execution of 11 search warrants and the identification of over two dozen suspects.

Daytona Beach police swarmed several neighborhoods and apartment complexes Thursday morning. There were a series of raids and arrests stemming from a months-long narcotics investigation. Several people are now in custody. SWAT teams and officers fired flashbangs and knocked on doors, warning those inside to come out. "This morning, we are executing 11 search warrants and hoping to pick up approximately 32 suspects," said Daytona Beach Chief Jakari Young. Young said this operation targeted a drug ring out of Volusia County. Those arrested face charges related to the sale and distribution of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine. "I think it's going to shut things down for a little while, at least," said Young. "Hopefully, a long time, but we'll see how things go."Chief Young tells us the alleged ring leader was arrested in Port Orange. Thursday morning, they also shut down a "trap house" in the area where drugs were stored.One neighbor said she and her son had a feeling something was going on. "He had some people invite him in, and he said ... it looked like a drug den, so he just kind of laughed and was a little weirded out by that," said Leslie Kiang, a Daytona Beach resident. "But yeah, we haven't ever seen any police over there, but there's been a lot of traffic in and out of that house. "Several people are now in police custody. This is a win for the Daytona Beach Police Department. "This is like a matter of life and death," said Young. "We have people that are dying on a daily basis due to these pedal pushers, these folks that are out here peddling this poison and killing people. This is all a part of the opioid crisis. So getting these folks off the streets is huge."
